The Unforgettable Fund

F I N D I N G  H O P E

In a peculiar twist of fate, the Governor of Florida, Jeb Bush, convinced The Scripps Research Institute, the largest non-profit biomedical research institute in the world, to move a few miles from my home in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Through sheer luck, I met a young man named Dr. Malcolm Leissring, their lead Alzheimer's scientist. I told him of my father and asked if he had ever seen Alzheimer's in real life, instead of under a microscope. Would he be interested in meeting my father? When he said yes, you can imagine my surprise. He spent the day with my father, and began the arduous task of trying to explain his research to me - an artist who barely passed Earth Science in high school.

Along with fellow researcher Dr. Claes Wahlestadt, these investigators have cut an aggressive path through the world of plaques and tangles, uncovering clues that point in promising, revolutionary directions which have enlisted the strong support of leaders in the field of Alzheimer's research. The culprit is not beyond our comprehension! It isn't lack of questions, it's just lack of research dollars that keep the answers at bay. Funding determines the pace of scientific discovery. And THAT is how we can help. I created The Unforgettable Fund as a direct donation "pathway" to Alzheimer's researchers.

The Unforgettable Fund is a non-profit , 501c(3) corporation registered in the State of Florida. We have no large, cumbersome foundation to support or any executive staff to pay. We do everything entirely for free. We don't use a penny of donor money - all of it goes to research. This is a place to donate directly to specific labs - Scripps Florida (Dr. Claes Wahlestedt) and Mayo Jacksonville (Dr. Malcolm Leissring). For a specific disease - Alzheimer's. For a specific result - research for a cure.
